Seasonal recruitment of scleractinian corals in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines

Terracotta tile (10 x 10 x 12 cm) were used to discern peaks in the recruitment of scleractinian corals at Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. Monitoring was done every two months for a period of 12 months. Results showed that the peak of recruitment occurred in April and May. During this period, the average number of recruits per tile was highest. This was around 6-7 individuals compared to one individual per tile in the other sampling periods. This observation is relevant in substantiating peak spawning period of scleractinian corals which is concurrently studied in the area
