A new peanut variety was released in February 1999 by the National Seed Industry Council [Philippines] and was given the seedboard name PSBPn 6 and the common name UPLPn 14 or Biyaya 14. PSBPn 6 was obtained from a cross between PSBPn 1 (JL24 or Biyaya 10) and IPBPn 24-2, a line from the Kidang x Florigiant cross. A two seeded Spanish variety with thin-coated, plump and oblong seeds that are larger than those of PSBPn 1 and PSBPn 3 (Biyaya 12), PSBPn 6 is a high-yielding variety that prefers light-textured soils. Seed yields are higher in the wet (1.97 ton/ha) than in the dry season (1.89 ton/ha)
