Agricultural restructuring processes, modernisation of production technology and costs of mechanisation on farms

The present paper presents the findings on the effect of agricultural restructing taking place in Poland. The findings showed that the economic standing of the restructured former state farms improved. An essential progress in crop and animal production technology followed, which, in turn, enhanced the quality of products, efficiency of labour, land and resources as well as working conditions. Family farms also modernized their equipment but the intensity of this process was, to a large extent, determined by the farm size. Costs of farming mechanization of both private and large corporate farms remained high yet to be cut down by developing services and sharing equipment
