Bacterial wilt caused by Burkholderia solanacearum is an important production constraint in over 70 percent of the groundnut crops in southern China. Crop rotation and cultural practices effectively controlled the disease but the most effective was through host-plant resistance. Through intensive breeding, wilt resistance and high yield were combined with resistance to rust and root rot, in some varieties
