We evaluated the variability of laying intensity and some parameters of egg quality in the commercial egg layer Shaver Starcross 288 during two laying periods (30th and 44th week of age of layers) and then for both periods together. The effect of age was statistically significant with all studied parameters except for laying intensity. Laying intensity was high and on average it achieved totally 92% for both periods. The average weight of eggs was 60.9 g, of yolk 15.6 g, egg-white 39.2 g; shell 6.3 g and edible part of egg 54.6 g. Proportion of yolk from egg weight was 25.6%, index of egg shape 76.1%, content of yolk cholesterol 1875 mg/100 raw yolk, cholesterol content in edible part of egg 535 mg/100 g and level of very low density lipoproteins in yolk 9.1 extinction units. Coefficient of variation varied from 3.6% for the index of egg shape to 10.8% for egg weight and 10.4 % for laying intensity
