Natural and economic results of grain maize production in different production conditions of Slovakia

Grain maize is produced in the Slovak Republic in the different production conditions (maize-beet and potatoes production area). It is following from the analysis done on the set of selected business that in the maize production area there were reached more favourable natural and economic results as in beet production area (higher hectare yields, higher sales, lower costs and subsidies per one hectare in the maize production area). Restructuralization of crop production in terms of decreasing total maize area grown in the Slovak Republic and its concentration mainly to maize production area (where higher hectare yields mean lower costs per product unit) will create suppositions for higher competitiveness of grain maize both at domestic and foreign market
