We calculated the estimates of genetic parameters in pigs by means of multitrait analyses of reproductive traits with litters (analysis A) and multitrait analyses of various parameters within a litter (analysis B). We evaluated these reproduction traits in the first four litters (tab. 1): total number of born piglets in litter (VS), number of piglets born alive (ZIV), number of piglets on 21st day of age (DOCH) and litter weight in 21 days of age (HMOT). We used the data from the data basis of performance testing in the State Breeding Institute SR during the years 1987-1997. The covariance matrices and genetic parameters were estimated by REML method using the 4 trait animal models. The highest heritability coefficients (0.14 and 0.13) were determined in parameters VS and ZIV in the first two litters using the calculation method A and B (tab. 2). The other heritability coefficients were somewhere about the value 0.10. The estimates of genetic correlations between the second, third and fourth litter were high (0.94-1.00), the correlations between the first and other litters were within the interval 0.54-0.88 (tab. 3). The highest correlations between parameters within the litters (analysis B) were found between the parameters VS and ZIV in the first three litters (0.97-0.91), the number of live born animals was also highly genetically correlated with the number of animals at the age 21 days, where the values of correlations between ZIV and DOCH were 0.92, 0.94 and 0.83 in the first three litters (tab. 4). With regard to lower correlations between the first and further litters and high correlations between the other litters we propose to use the parameter ZIV in the genetic evaluation in the first litter as an independent parameter, and for the number of live born animals to use the model with repetition in the second and furhter litters
