Correlations among mineral elements content in yolk and some parameters of egg quality in Japanese quail

We evaluated phenotypic correlations between the content of mineral elements in yolk and some parameters of quality in eggs of Japanese quail. Correlations between weight parameters of egg quality (weight of egg, yolk, egg-white, shell) were predominantly positive and statistically significant. Correlations between parameters of quality in eggs and content of mineral elements were poor and nonsignificant in general. Significant positive was only the correlation between yolk weight and phosphorus content. Very significant or significant negative was the correlation between content of yolk cholesterol and content of calcium and zinc, and between the proportion of egg-white and content of yolk phosphorus. Correlations between the content of mineral elements in yolk were predominantly poor and nonsignificant. Very significantly negative was the correlation between the content of phosphorus and sodium, very highly significantly positive between the content of calcium and magnesium, and calcium and zinc, and significantly positive between the content of sodium and magnesium. The relation between the content of macro and micro elements Cu, Mn, Co and Kr was interesting although the correlations were not statistically significant because of small number of correlated pairs, except for significant and negative correlation between the content of sodium and cobalt, and positive correlation between the content of magnesium and chromium. The medium strong and positive correlation between the content of phosphorus and cobalt was on the margin of statistical significance. Interesting was also the medium strong positive correlation between the content of zinc and cobalt, and negative correlation between the content of copper and chromium, and manganese and cobalt
