Weed survey was carried out in the winter rice fields of a vast natural wet basin area in the north-eastern part of Bangladesh. Twenty seven weed species belonging to 13 families were recorded. Seven weed species belonged to Gramineae followed by 5 to Cyperaceae. Ten weed species were identified as importance to their high relative. Abundance values and among them Scirpus juncoides was the most important one. Number of weed species and weed density decreased with the decrease in land elevation. Irrespective of land topographic unit the density of annual weeds was higher than that of perennials. A wide range of dissimilarity was noticed in the weed community in different land elevations.
