Charcoal stalk rot disease (Macrophomina phaseolina) of corn is one of the important disease, particularly in tropics. Field trial for disease resistant screening was conducted for late rainy season of 1995. Inoculation operated at 7 days after 50 percent silking with toothpick method into the second internodes of elite var. and inbred lines. Disease intensity of 10 scales technique was employed after 5 weeks of inoculation. Experimental result indicated that, Suwan 3601 was the most resistant line (6.8) but Suwan 3 DT(S)C2-F2 showed less resistant (8.3). The average disease severity of this elite var. was 7.4. Most of the inbred lines tested also proved to be susceptible, e.g.Kei 9419, Ki 21 and Suwan 1(S)C8 with disease score of 7.6, 9.8 and 8.0 respectively.
