Objective of this research is to study corn drying by corncob gasifier. The drying system consists of gasifier system, hot air equipment, blower and drying room. In the gasifier rate of corncob of 31.16 kg/h and the air mass flow rate is equal to 50.6 kg/h. The important burnt of producer gas contained 18.44, 0.08 and 0.27 percent by volume of CO, H2 and CH4 respectively. The producer gas has low heating value about 2,457.61 kJ/cubic m. The suitable conditions of drying 1000 kg corn of initial 21.72 percent wb. to 15 percent wb. was found to be 8 h of continuous drying time, the hot air temperature (under the drying grate) to be 107.5 deg C and mass flow rate was 1,114.41 kg/h. Thermal efficiency of the gasifier system and dryer are equal to 88.15 and 18.06 percent respectively. The total thermal energy consumption was about 21.59 MJ/kg H2O evap. of which 20.38 MJ/kg H2O evap. is for thermal energy from producer gas and 1.21 MJ/kg evap. is for thermal energy from blower. The cost of drying was 9.4 Baht/kg H2O evap. The recovery period of the system was estimated to be 4 years by assuming and operating life of 10 years for this system. The experimental result of compared to the mathematic model made by Soponronnarit (1991) was found compatible.
