1997
Veerapong Tong-ngok
Study on growth and financial analysis of 8-year-old Acacia mangium plantation in various spacings was carried out at the area of The Research and Training in Re-afforestation Project, Royal Forest Department, Amphur Wang-narm-kheao, Changwat Nakorn Ratchasima. The results revealed that 2*4 m spacing was the most appropriated spacing for planting Acacia mangium plantation of which the maximum mean values of dbh, height and fresh weight of merchantable woody parts were 17.32 cm, 18.85 m and 178.69 t/ha, respectively. The next most appropriated spacings in sequence were 2*3, 2*2 and 2*1 m, which yielded the similar set values of those were 14.75 cm, 17.23 m and 117.88 t/ha, 12.59 cm, 16.72 m and 104.69 t/ha and 10.55 cm, 16.54 m and 70.38 t/ha, respectively. Regarding to economic values study, cost information gathered from Forest Industry Organization and private plantation including fixed and variable costs. The variable costs were planting and maintenance costs. Justification of the project based on the indicators including benefit-cost ratio, the net present value and internal rate of return. In computing the indicators, discount rates used interest rates of 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 percent. The result of economical analysis revealed that spacing 2*4 m gave the maxmium values of the benefit-cost ratio and the net present value, the next maximum values of those in sequence were the spacings of 2*3, 2*2 and 2*1 m. With respect to the internal rate of return, the project's internal rate of return based on costs information of Forest Industry Organization at spacings of 2*1, 2*2, 2*3 and 2*4 m were 3.64, 13.95, 17.29 and 26.56 percent, respectively, and based on cost information of private plantation, the figures were 5.64, 17.68, 22.07 and 31.99 percent, respectively, at the same spacing set.
