Tissue culture of chewing sugarcane and a study on cultivar characteristic in field plot

Shoot tip of chewing sugarcane were established in MS modified media supplemented with BA 1 mg/l lateral buds could be induced after 1 month. After subcultured 1 month, 20 multiple shoots per culture could be obtained in MS modified media supplemented with BA 1 mg/l. Root initiated 100 percent in MS media supplemented with IBA or NAA at the concentration 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 mg/l, IBA 4 mg/l gave the number of roots 4 roots. Plantlets were transfered to soil and the survival rate 50 percent. Plants grew well in field plot, harvesting period 10 months. There were 6.8 stems per plant, sugar content 17.68 deg Brix and yield 22.24 ton/rai.
