Average daily gain (ADG), feed consumption (FC) and feed efficiency (FE) of 16 crossbreed swine, 8 Pietrain X Berkshire (PB) and 8 Pietrain X Piau (PP), from 50 to 100 kg body weight were compared. Each genetic group was kept in the same pen. In both feeding times (8 and 15 hs) the animals were separated in individual pens and recieved corn soybean meal solvent rations ad libitum formulated to atend NRC 1989 nutrient allowances. Animals recieved also water ad libitum. After 56 days of observation (4 periods of 14 days), the PB and PP animals were similar (P0,05) in ADG (978 and 853 g) and FC (3,3339 and 3,332 kg), respectively. The PB animals showed better FE that PP (1:3,45 and 1:3,93). The results transformed in metabolic weight (BV 0,75) presented similar values. Respectively ADG (37,2 and 33,7 g) FC (127,0 and 131,7 g) and FE 1:3,41 and 1:3,91, P0,05. All the animals were slaughtered and submitted to carcass evaluation test.
