Genetic analysis of yield components in spring wheat

In orger to study inheritance and combining ability of yield components (plant height, ear length and number of spikelets/spike) in spring wheat, 18 F1 generations have been produced, using six female genotypes from Mexico and three testers from Yugoslavia. Line x tester analysis for combining ability was done (Singh and Chaudhary, 1976). The best general combiner for all characters studied was Mexico 12. There was a preponderance of dominant over additive component of genetic variance.
