Stamenkovic, S. (Naucni institut za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia))
The corn ground beetle (Zabrus tenebrioides) is a regular pest of small grains in Yugoslavia. It occurs on fields where small grains were grown in monoculture. This fact indicates that its occurring and damaging effect, can be controlled including just one cultural practice, crop rotation. In Yugoslavia, wheat has been grown in monoculture on about 10-11% of the acreage. In last five years, larvae of the corn ground beetle were controlled from 0.6% - 1.8% of wheat acreages. It is much less than in previous years.
