Evapotranspiration and morphological characteristics of corn depending on the depth of soil wetting and their relationships with yield
1999
Pejic, B.
A study was conducted in the period 1992-1994, in field conditions, to assess the effect of the depth of soil wetting on evapotranspiration, morphological characteristics, yield components and yield of corn. Experiments were carried out at the experimental field at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops at Rimski Sancevi (near Novi Sad, Serbia, Yugoslavia), on the calcareous chernozem soil of the loess terrace. The experiments were established as a block system and adapted for application of sprinkling irrigation. There were three irrigation variants, to wet the soil layers of 20, 40 and 60 cm, and the non-irrigated control. Irrigation was scheduled on the basis of water balance, by the bioclimatic method, applying the hydrophytothermic index for corn of 0.15.
