Groshkoff, I. | Yakimova, E. (Institute of Floriculture, Negovan (Bulgaria))
This work was undertaken to study the yield and the possibility for mass scale production of three new candidate-cultivars of Rosa thea hybrida, that were selected at the Institute of Floriculture, Sofia. We heve used root stocks from Rosa canina, cv. Plovdiv. The cultivars No.109 (white to slight pink), No.149 (pink) and No.184 (milk white with rose-red edge) showed very good ornamental quality, attractive colours and beautiful flower shape.A description of the cultivars is provided. The cut flowers produced from the candidate varieties were about 68% of supreme quality and the average yield was 13-20% higher in comparison to cv. Flamingo and cv. White Success. The three cultivars expressed a maximum productivity during the second wave of flowering and the number of cut flowers was slightly lower than cv. Flamingo and White success.
