In field trials conducted at two different sites in the years 1994 to 1997 weed spectrum and effect of weeds on the yield structure of crambe were studied. Inter-species competition was tested at two different sowing rates of crambe (160 germinating seeds per square m and 240 germinating seeds per square m) and two doses of N in industrial fertilizers (0 and 80 kg/ha). The total number of weeds in conversion into area was lower at the site with better weather conditions (on average 70.8 plants per square m) compared with cooler and moister site (234.9 plants per square m). The number of weeds found had significantly negative impact on the grain yields of crambe only on N-untreated plots and also on the plots with higher sowing rate of crambe. No significant relationship has been found between the number of weeds and other studied parameters. Higher sowing rate of crambe reduced number of weeds and the weight of their phytomass, what had a positive effect on the seed yield.
