Chrysanthemums form a large group of popular plants. They produce and abundance of flowers of different shapes and colours from summer to late autumn. So far, the situation of the growth of chrysanthemums has not been investigated in Estonia. The purpose of the present research is to study the rooting and the diseases of the cuttings in the production conditions. In addition, an overview is given on the marketing of chrysanthemums. The experiments with 30 different varieties were carried out in the spring of 1997 and 1998. The average percentage of rooting was 94 per cent in 1997 and 96 per cent in 1998 respectively. The cultivars 'Amber Lineker', 'Eva', 'Fiji Orange', 'Snowdon', 'Yellow Snowdon' had a low level of regeneration and needed additional manipulations for rooting
