Biodiversity of conventional and organic grasslands and the content of plant nutrients in soil

In the research work the DM-yield of sward (on 5 research plots of 1 m (2)), the botanical composition, soil pH sub(KCl) and humus content (by Tjurin) were measured the content of soluble plant nutrients P and K by DL-(Egner-Riehm) method and Ca and Mg by AL-(ammonium acetate extraction) method were measured as well. The legume content of sward is an important factor, because the grassland production and productivity is based on the legumes in organic farms. The total yield and legume content of organic grassland depend on the type of the sward (clover, lucerne, galega) and the of the sward. In the research the clear differences between conventional and organic farms in botanical composition of sward were not found, in both types of farming the dominant species of sward was one legume. The content of humus was higher in organic farms, pH and soil types were in compared farm pairs the same. The content of macronutrients P and K depends mostly on the location of farms. The low content of P and K in soils is caused by the low content in soil parent material and in conventional farms on very low fertilizing level too
