One important factor in the economics of the pig farming is to wean as many piglets per sow as possible. In the preweaning period we have to take strong efforts to prevent losses. These should include adequate space, proper higienie, microclimate etc. The author introduces the most popular technologies for air condition and heating used in the farrowing section. The different ventilation, heating etc. technologies are exemplified and presented with cost-benefit analyses.
