Effect of organic selenium supply on the selenium status of blood and seminal plasma of breeding bulls
1999
V rszegi,J.
The effect of the supply of organic Se for 6 months (0.5 mg/head daily) on Se content of blood plasma and seminal plasma and glutathione peroxidase activity in breeding bulls, was examined.Changes were observed in the Se content of blood plasma and seminal plasma with no direct correlation between them.Se content of blood plasma changed markedly depending on the actual Se content of feeds. The results indicate that glutathione peroxidase activity itself is not an adequate indicator for the evaluation of Se status of breeding bulls.
