To obtain the basic data for the future recovery counterplan and to make the standards of decision whether the infested plants should be replanted or not, the actual conditions of damage by salt breeze of Typhoon No.9119 in September, 1991, were analyzed. 1) The damage by salt breeze was large in the region from the south to the southwest of green. There were some cases of very large damage in inland. 2) The coverage of protection effect of windbreak against storm surge was four times distance of tree height at 100% of forest density and two times at 80%. There was no protection effect by windbreak at 50% of the forest density and the windbreak net. 3) Very low salt tolerance was observed among young trees under five years and those after two years of grafting. 4) Death of all Citrus Unshu in the part of green where seawater flooded was observed within three months. However, the treevigor of "Miyauchi Iyokan" decreased a little and some of them died. 5) Trees with above 90% of defoliation rate or those with 70% of mortality of one or two-year-old twigs immediately after the damage need replanting
