To utilize rotational paddy fields for the production of forage crops, cropping systems of forage crops for year-round cultivation were examined. Seeding in the cropping systems took plan in the last 10 days of September for barley, the first 10 days of October for rye at Morioka. Cutting date corresponded to the heading stage in rye, and yellow ripe stage in corn and barley. Dry matter yield in the double cropping system (corn-rye), triple cropping system in two years (corn-barley-corn) was 10-25 % higher than in the case of single cropping. Double cropping system was more effective for the increase and stabilization of dry matter yield of forage crops
