A series of experiments was carried out at the Institute of Agriculture during 1982-1997. The objective of this study was to investigate the timming of the first cut of two white clover cultivars for seed 'Bitunai' and 'Atoliai', early red clover 'Liepsna', late red clover 'Kamaniai', alsike clover 'Daubiai' and goat's rue 'Gale'. It was determined that early red clover for seed cut at the most suitable time produced 1.69 t/ha of DM of high quality extra forage, white clover - 0.41-0.63 t/ha, alsike and late red clover - 0.19-0.21 t/ha, goat's rue 0.13 t/ha respectively. A significant seed yield increase occured and seed harvesting was facilitated due to the cut of first grass
