By using hydroponics equipment of original design it was determined that root and shoot weight of Italian rye-grass, meadow fescue and their hybrids 'Punia' had an exponent growth stage. Relative growth rate of Italian rye-grass was higher than that of other investigated species only at the beginning of the growth. The ratio of root weigh / total weight decreased of Italian rye-grass, and that of meadow fescue and hybrid was nearly constant. We also established that rye-grass surpassed meadow fescue in the number of shoots in early stage of growth, but meadow fescue start intensive rooting from 40 th day of growth
