A historic review of statistic investigations concerning households is presented. The investigation data provide information about household incomes, expenses, residential (living) conditions - flat size and the existing conveniences as well as the inhabitants opinion of their living standard. The statistics data were processed and the mean values were calculated. Households were grouped according to their size (the number of people participating in the household as in an economic unit), income, people profession, location of the household (city, countryside). The mean size of a household was determined. The differences between a city household and a countryside household are discussed.
