The influence of dicotyledonous weeds on the yield of spring barley was studied in the field trials on sod podzolic loam soil in Adazi Riga region during 1998 to 2000. The trials were carried out following full plant protection programme. Relationships between the decreased number and fresh weight of dicotyledonous weeds after herbicides use and the increase of spring barley yield were determined. Relationships were statistically significant with the average crop yield level above 5 t ha*[-1) and sufficiently high level of weed infestation in untreated plots with the weed count exceeding 100 pieces per square m and fresh weight above 600 g m*[-2). Regression analyses showed that there exist negative linear relationship at the sufficiently high grain yield level (6 t ha*[-1) on average).
