[Influence of nitrogen fertilizer norms and seeding rates on the yield of barley "Ansis"]

The investigation of the breeding technology of perspective barley hybrid line 9899 (variety "Ansis") was started in 1995 to 1996, simultaneously continuing the test in competition nursery. The new cultivar was compared to standard "Abava". The influence of seeding rate, increased norms of nitrogen fertilizer as well as the split fertilizer application on the yield and grain quality of barley "Ansis" were studied. There was observed grain yield increase in all the treatments compared to standard variety. The productivity of the crop was essentially increased with increasing fertilizer rates resulting in the decrease of output per kilogram of applied N. Most of all these differences in yield were dependent on the level of top-dressing as well as on meteorological conditions and diverse soil fertility status. Close and essential coherence between grain yield and the number of productive stems were ascertained when using high rates of mineral nitrogen (N 90, N 120 kg ha*[-1)). The essential increase of crude protein in barley grains was not observed.
