Five groups of broiler cockerels from 8 to 35 days of life were fed isoprotein and isoenergetic diets containing wheat as an only cereal and white lupin seeds or soybean oil meal. In all diets the fat content was equalized to 9 percent by supplementation with soybean oil or beef tallow. In lupin containing diets supplemented with tallow or soybean oil the proportion of n-6 to n-3 fatty acids were 3.2 and 5.9 respectively; in diets containing soybean meal it was 7.4 on average. After commencement of the experiment 12 birds of each group were killed and samples of abdominal fat pads and breast muscles were taken for further fatty acids analysis
