The genotype ESR2 was found in sows of the LW breed. 56 sows were included in breeding herd I and 43 sows in breeding herd II. The frequencies of the ESR2 genotypes in breeding herd I were: C/C=50 percent, C/D=37.5 percent, D/D=12.5 percent. The frequency of the allele D was: D=0.31. The frequencies of the ESR2 genotype in breeding herd II were: C/C=32.6 percent, C/D=62.8 percent, D/D=4.6 percent. The frequency of allele D was: D=0.36. A higher numberof all piglets born and piglets born alive was apparent in the first litter of sows of genotype D/D in breeding herd II. The allele D probably corresponds with a lager litter size. This fact was not confirmed in breeding herd I. A positive influence of the allele D on the number of all piglets born and number of piglets reared is manifested in the second and the other litters of breeding herd II too
