The forestry management implemented for decades in what is today the external or B zone of the Biogenetic Reserve of Planalto Central da Serra da Estrela has proved to be a non-innocuous activity, since several introduced species have invaded the internal or A zone of the Biogenetic Reserve. In this study, five exotic species were recorded in the A zone. So far, their distribution and abundance have been limited by fire. Nevertheless, it is possible that the area occupied will expand in the future, since seed-producing individuals were recorded for all the species, a situation which justifies the introduction of a monitoring programme for the area
