Residues of tylosin (ylan plv. a. u. v., Elanco, Austria) were detected after experimental administration in drinking water (1 g/1 l)to laying hens. The dose was twice the dose recommended by the producer. The samples were analysed by the high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method with solid phase extraction. The recovery from spiked poultry meat samples by the HPLC method ranged from 66.7% (1 mg/g) to 77.6% (0.1 mg/g). The detection limit of the method was 40 mg/kg. Residues of tylosin exceeded the maximum residue limits (MRLs) in only two samples. The highest concentrations were detected in thigh muscles (273.3 micro g/kg, and 139.4 mg/kg) on the first day after concluding the experimental treatment
