[Monitoring of the changes in forest environment by means of aerial photographs and satellite imagery]

The paper deals with the detection and monitoring methods of some forest characteristics employing digital interpretation of aerial and satellite data. With respect to recent knowledge it is possible to recommend aerial and satellite data for assessment of the following characteristics: sanitation condition and vitality, species composition, age structure, growing stock and production. Stand sanitation condition and vitality are ones of the most important final ecological characteristics of forest environment. Their changes result from change of different soil and air ecological factors
