Structural characteristics and soil physical properties of Secondary Dry Dipterocarp Forest at Changwat Nakhon Ratchasima were investigated from April 1996 to February 1997. Trees with a diameter at breast height exceeding 4.5 centimeters were measured within 100 sample plots each 10*10 square m in size, soils sampled within 4 sample plots measuring 25*25 square m. The forest consists of 46 trees species with a density of 1,960 trees per hactare. The basal area of the trees was 0.2202 percent of the sample plot area. DBH and H distribution of the showed L and bell shaped curves. The dominant trees species determined by using IVI gave Shorea obtusa Wall. And the Dominant species determined by using the minimum value of d gave 7 dominant species. The value of species diversity calculated by using the following formula: Fisher's index, Shannon-Wiener index, Simpson's index, McIntosh's MC1 and McIntosh's MC2 are 8.437, 3.100, 0.741, 0.502 and 0.491, respectively. The richness index of R1 and R2 are 5.936 and 1.039, respectively. The value of everness index: E1, E2, E3, E4 and E5 are 0.561, 0.186, 0.168, 0.451, 0.378 respectively. The vertical Stratificantion could be divided into only one layer at lavel 16 meters. Regarding the tree distribution pattern displayed by all species was random. Shorea obtusa Wall. and four species with IVI closeset to Shorea obtusa Wall showed a clumped pattern. Crown cover of the forest was 64.04 percent. Total above ground biomass of the trees was 84.710 ton per hactare. The soils was texture were a sandy loam with about 55-77 percent sand, 21-35 percent silt and about 2-10 percent clay. The soil had a component have solid about 58.77-60.87 percent, soil bluk density and soil particle density were 1.00-1.40 g per square cm and 2.30-2.39 g per square cm soil porosity were 39.92-45.62 percent.
