Results are enlightened of the long-term study (since 1965) of biological recultivation of the soils deteriorated by open mining. The data present are referred to Nikopol Manganese Ore Basin. Coefficients are given to calculate agrobiological characteristics of the root systems of lucerne and esparcet. The following issues are analysed as well: the structure and spreading of the root system of the three-year lucerne grown under conditions of unfertilized forest-like loamy soil; seasonal dynamics of the total amount of microorganisms in the layer of 0-40 cm of unfertilized edaphotopes. The special features of the enzymatic activity in the soil layer of 0-40 cm are found out as well as the degree of soil enrichment with the enzymes. The conclusions are drawn that in order to control the changes in tilled layer of a landscape area subjected to recultivation while conducting diagnostics of young soils of technogenic ecosystems it is necessary to investigate physico-chemical properties of an edaphotope, specific features of its root systems development and the amount of microorganisms. Close relationship exists between these factors and enzymic activity. The united and complex system is revealed that functions in the soils emerged on dumps
