Preliminary research results on use of camellia residue as a pesticide

Analytical results show that there exits certain amount of sapotoxin in camellia residue. This substance can be processed to produce a promising pesticide in forms of macerated, boiling extracts, solutions and pastes. From preliminary experimental results on the fields at Phu Dien, Tu Liem, Hanoi, it was shown that at 3 days after treatment, effectiveness of the pesticide in controling insects "was as high as 67.86- 76.25 percent. However, these products still have some limitations in big volume tobe used untidy processing and pest control effectiveness. It is therefore, necessary to do further studies to overcome these limitations
