The major task of this work was to find out what influence might have different application of NPK on the chemical composition and yield of some Yugoslav NS maize hybrids. For this purpose a field trial was carried out using six hybrids such as: NS 475, NS 606, NS 640, NS 646, NS 663 and Balkan. The trial was established in 1965 with monoculture and two year rotation included exhibiting at the same time six variations in application of fertilizers: control, NPK, manure + NPK, maize-stover + NPK, two year rotation manure and two year rotation manure + NPK. Based on the year results the following can be concluded: The average crude protein content was considerably affected by the way of fertilizing. The least protein content was acquired from the control plot (6.15%). Maize obtained on the NPK + manure plot prove to be the richest in protein content (12.26%).
