Effect of potassium, sodium and alfa amino-nitrogen content on recoverable sugar of some sugar beet hybrids

In the paper are presented studies of effect of potassium, sodium and alfa-amino nitrogen content on recoverable sugar of sugar beet hybrids: Nera, Neda, Dana, Norma, Neta, Delta and Novita created at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (Serbia, Yugoslavia). Trials were conducted during 1997 and 1998 on experimental field at Rimski Sancevi, in four rows, 8 m long, with row to row spacing of 0.45 m, and plant to plant spacing of 0.2 m. Analysis of samples was done at the Laboratory for Technological Quality of Sugar Beet of Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (Serbia, Yugoslavia). Potassium and sodium content was determined by flame photometry, while and alfa-amino nitrogen content was measured by color photometry method. Obtained values are given in nmol per 100 g of root. To approve effect of measured traits on recoverable sugar, core correlation and Path-coefficient analysis were calculated. Varieties: Neta, Neda, Dana and Delta had the highest values of recoverable sugar content.
