This article reviews the scientific literature of deer antler. History, taxonomy, anatomy, composition and function of deer antler are presented in the first chapter. Growth cycle, its control and its histology are described in the second chapter. Use of deer antler for science purpose is listed in the third chapter. Along this article, the originality of the antler as an organ is pointed out.
