The tolerance of mammary gland and the duration of azocillin retantion in milk secretion after intracisternal administration of 0,6 g single dose (one 10g intramammary syringe) in 5 healthy lactating cows were estimated. The milk samples from treated and untreated adjacent gland quarters were taken at the 12th, 24th, 36th, 48th, 60th and 96th hour after treatment. It was established that the intracisternal application of azlocillin-Na at 24th and 72th hour incresed the number of cell elements without changes in organoleptic properties and pH of the milk. The antibiotic content in the milk was the highest at the 12th h. The azlocillin quantity in 1 ml milk at the 24th h was 12,7+-4,3 mg/ml while at the 48th h, the antibiotic concentration decreased to 0,45+-0,04 mg/ml.
