Ecomonitoring study of the condition of soil cenoses from heavy metals contaminated grounds

The condition of mesobiontic and microbiontic soil cenosis in the area of Non-Ferrous Metals Plant (NMP) of Plovdiv was studied. Soil content of heavy metals such as lead (Pb), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu) and cadmium (Cd) was reported. The study encompassed two seasons - spring and autumn of 2000. The following ecological properties were recorded - density, frequency and abundance of mesobiotic cenosis. The condition of microbiotic cenosis was studied by means of microbiological analysis. The negative effect of heavy metals in soil on both geo-biota types was established.
