Thirty maize hybrids with FAO numbers ranging from 210 to 350 from 8 producers were tested for yield and feed quality. The hybrids were sown on 30 April 2001 and harvested on 4 September 2001. The yields of whole plants with spikes varied from 14.9 to 21.6 t/ha. Dry matter concentrations in whole plants ranged from 22.7 to 30.3 %, in spikes from 38.9 to 51.4 % and in kernels from 41.4 to 55.3 %. The PDIE (about 120 g/kg of dry matter) and NEL concentrations indicated the good quality of the tested hybrids. Producers are thus marketing seeds with high genetic potential that can be expressed in appropriate conditions and if good agrotechnical practices are used.
