Energetic use of some grass species

The growing of energetic plants on the fallow land is one of the possibilities how to utilize those lands for non-food production. The spontaneous fallows which occur very often in the marginal regions belong to very negative phenomena from the agricultural and non-agricultural point of view. Dry matter yields, combustion heat and heating value of selected grass species were investigated. The study summarizes the proposals of utilization of the three most suitable grass species, giving the highest dry matter yield and energy, grown on unused land within one district.
