Intestinal prolapse after castration of stallions. How to cope with it in the field

Two cases of post-castration intestinal prolapse are described. The first patient was treated completely on the spot by immediate reposition of bilateral small intestinal prolapse, ligation of processus vaginalis, and suture of the external inguinal ring. The second patient was treated temporarily by fixation of the prolapsed intestine to scrotum and transported to a veterinary clinic where extensive resection of strangulated intestine was performed and the ensuing complications had to be coped with.
