Although many studies showed that even the wildforms of our crops may improve elite breeding material in quantitative traits, it is still not known, which estimate and which selection procedure has to be used for a selection among wildform parental material. In a two year field test, the progenies of three generations (cross, first and second backcross) of 30 cross-combinations between barley cultivars and wildform lines were studied for quantitative traits like: Yield per Plant, Plant Height, Days to Anthesis, etc. The observed population means and genetic variances showed deviations from the theoretical expectations, especially in the cross and in the first backcross generation. Number of transgressive lines of early generation correlates to the respective number in the second backcross generation
