Role of genotype and crop rotation in the nutrient supply of maize on chernozem soil
2001
Pepo, P.
The effect of crop year, crop rotation and fertilization on the agronomic traits and yield of different maize genotypes was studied in a long-term experiment on chernozem soil in the eastern part of Hungary (Hajdusag). In crop years (1998 and 1999) characterised by favourable water supplies the maize hybrids produced a huge quantity of biomass. In the dry crop year and in the monoculture ( in 2000) the height of the hybrids dropped substantially. The lodging of the hybrids remained under the critical level agronomically during the observed period. Infection with blister smut and cob fusarium were not influenced by crop year, crop rotation or fertilization.
