Growth and productivity of wheat as influenced by integrated use of chemical fertilizer, biofertilizer and growth regulator

A field experiment was conducted during the winter season of 1997-98 and 1998-99 in the lateritic acidic belt of West Bengal on integrated use of bio fertilizers (Phosphert, Azofert, Bioplin and vitormone) and growth regulator (Protein hydrolysate) at different fertility levels on wheat. The results showed that combination of Azofert or Phosphert or Bioplin with Vitrormone or Protein hydrolysate at low fertility level significantly increased plant height, number of tillers per square meter, total dry matter production, CGR, LAI, yield attributes and grain and straw yield over low fertility level (70-35-35 kg N-P2O5-K2 O/ha respectively). The increase in fertility level increased the growth, yield attributes, grain yield (65.8%) and straw yield (47%). The highest grain and straw yields were obtained with the application of Bioplin and Protein hydrolysate at high fertility level (100-50-50 kg N-P2O5-K2 O/ha respectively). Biofertilizer and growth regulator alone accounted for 17-19% yield improvement in wheat at low fertility level.
