Differential induction of b-1,3 glucanase in powdery mildew resistant and susceptible lines of pea (Pisum sativum L.) in response to powdery mildew infection

Background level of activity of B-1,3 glucanases in both powdery mildew resistant and susceptible lines was recorded. Infection induced the cellular content of the enzyme in all the lines. However, this increase was much more conspicuous in the resistnat lines as compared to the susceptible strains. A critical limit for resistance response was found to exist between 1.64 and 2.05 mol glucose eq per min per mg protein.
